The final season of the Korean global hits series Squid Game was released on June 27 and is currently, topping Netflix's series chart in Indonesia. Since the first season, the series has gained a lot of fans in Indonesia. Every promotional item with Squid Game-themed has become a must-have. Events featuring any games from the series were always quickly filled with fans. One of the viral events was the Red Light, Green Light challenge hosted by Netflix Indonesia in December 2025. The event easily recruited 456 players in less than 5 minutes, making it one of the most competitive events to join in the country. The series has become a significant promotion of Korean culture, especially traditional games and children's songs since then.
To celebrate the final season, Netflix Indonesia held the Jump Rope Challenge event from June 26 to 29 at the outdoor plaza of the Plaza Senayan, a shopping mall in Jakarta. An online registration was needed to participate in the challenge. Those above 18 years old were eligible to join. The game arena was open for participants from 10 AM to 9 PM with a specific admission time. Each batch had a total 20-minute playing timeslot with around 24 players.
A replica of the viral jump rope game scene of the series was placed as the centerpiece of the challenge venue guarded by the pink guards. It featured the statue of the infamous deadly doll, Young-hee, and the newly introduced, Chul-su. Both were facing each other and holding a steel rope. The original soundtracks of the series played in the background to get everyone immersed in the game.

I participated the challenge on June 27. Dressed in the iconic green tracksuit, I joined the 10.35 AM challenge together with the other 23 players. There were two games, the jump rope challenge and the triathlon. Both games were assigned to each player in a random sequence. The jump rope challenge was my first. I played it with the other five players. As expected from the Squid Game, the jump rope had its own rules, which made it harder than the usual one. In this version, I need to jump on a digital rope and land in a digital pink square, that is designated as the safe zone. Both the rope and safe zone were projected on the game floor. The jump rope song was played in the background during the game. To win the challenge, players need to stay in the game for one minute. The winners would get Squid Game Season 3 merchandise as the prize. Unfortunately, no one in our batch made it to the last seconds. It was very challenging because the safe zone location kept changing and the rope appeared at random times. It was hard to predict the digital rope movement and where to land safely. Good stamina, focus, and strategies were definitely needed to win the challenge.

The next game was the triathlon. The arena was on the other side of the venue. Before proceeding to the arena, each player had the chance to stop by the photobox located in front of the jump rope arena. Here we took a commemorative photo with the jump rope arena as the background.
The triathlon arena was a colorful circle track resembled the one in the Squid Game season 2. This one was smaller in size. The track was divided into four sides, one side with the starting point sign, and the other three sides with a pink guard sitting behind a classroom-like table waiting for us to play the game. To play this game, we were divided into a group of three players. I was teamed up with Ibnu Malik, an Honorary Reporter compatriot, and Deviayu Mustika, a player we just met onsite. Entering the arena, our leg was tied together like in the series. To win the game, each team needed to finish the three games in a 'four-leg' race within two minutes. The first game was biseokchigi (the flying stone game). I played this game and successfully hit the stone on my second try. The next game was gonggi (five pebbles picking, throwing, and catching game). It was a one-round gonggi game, where the player needed to pick up the pebbles one at a time. Deviayu was the player. As she successfully caught the 5 pebbles in less than one minute, we were able to proceed to the last game, jegichagi (a Korean traditional shuttlecock 'jegi' kicking game). Here, a player needs to kick the jegi two times consecutively. Ibnu was able to kick the jegi on time and we made it to the finish line. Two pink guards holding a pink finish rope were waiting for us.

Despite the time pressure, both games were entertaining for players and spectators. As a player, we had a fun experience trying the games firsthand. Many spectators were entertained by the player's efforts while completing each game, and the pink guards when eliminating players. Especially in the triathlon, every time a team finishes a game, the pink guard will make an 'O' sign with their hand above their head like in the series. Many said it was cute seeing them in that pose. In the surrounding area, there were two 'recruiters' with a carrier who walked around to challenge the spectators to play dakji chigi (flipping folded paper tiles game) with them. Those who are new to K-culture may learn about Korean traditional games and children's songs through this event. The jump rope arena also became a photo spot for everyone.
