El 4 de julio de 2024 asistí al estreno, que fue a sala completa y con la presencia del equipo realizador, entre ellos su directora Cecilia Kang y su protagonista Melanie Chong, en el cine Leopoldo Lugones del Teatro San Martín de Buenos Aires de la película argentino-coreana “Partió de mí un barco llevándome”. Este largometraje, que transcurre en la actualidad, cuenta la vida diaria de una joven coreano-argentina mientras ensaya un monólogo para una obra, repitiendo el testimonio de Hwang Kum-Joo, quien fue una de las muchas eufemísticamente llamadas “mujeres de confort”, donde se hace ver el estigma social con el que tuvieron que cargar.
Las mal llamadas “mujeres de confort”, también conocidas como “wianbu” en coreano, son mujeres (de Corea, China, Taiwán, Filipinas, Indonesia, Timor Oriental, Malasia, Tailandia, así como de los Países Bajos y Japón) que fueron sometidas a esclavitud sexual por el ejército japonés antes y durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial (durante la Guerra Asia-Pacífico) desde principios de la década de 1930 hasta 1945. Dichas mujeres, incluidas niñas menores de edad, fueron secuestradas, coaccionadas o reclutadas de otro modo bajo promesas fraudulentas de empleos en fábricas o trabajos de enfermería. La directora de este film fue quien en 2013 durante un viaje a Corea tuvo la oportunidad de escuchar a la anciana Kim Bok-Dong, la que en una charla contó cómo a sus 15 años la subieron a un barco que emprendió un viaje a un destino no elegido y cómo la violaban más de 20 veces al día. Con esta película, además de llevar a conocimiento esta cuestión lamentablemente aún hoy ignorada por muchos, se logra también tratar temas muy vigentes, como lo es el caso de la violencia doméstica, abordándolo por intermedio de la historia de la madre de la protagonista, siendo una obra de arte que interpela al público de una forma sorprendentemente abarcativa.
La segunda parte de esta entrega transcurre en Seúl, donde se muestra cómo hoy en día se mantiene vivo el reclamo de reconocimiento, de reparación y de pedido de disculpas, mediante una escena en la que la protagonista participa de una manifestación. En ese momento queda completamente amalgamada la ficción con la realidad, puesto que desde el 8 de enero de 1992, todos los miércoles, con sol o con lluvia, se siguieron y siguen llevándose a cabo protestas frente a la Embajada de Japón en busca de justicia, con progresivo aumento de afluencia de generaciones más jóvenes y de ciudadanos que se unen en apoyo.
Previo al inicio de la proyección, la película fue introducida a los presentes por Cecilia Kang y por Melanie Chong. Luego, habiendo finalizado la misma, su directora se quedó conversando con el público, al que invitó a hacer preguntas y produciéndose entonces un intercambio enriquecedor.
Esta obra, que contó -entre varios- con el apoyo de la Asociación Civil de Coreanos en la Argentina y del Instituto Nacional (Argentino) de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales, previo a su estreno fue presentada en el 38° Festival de Cine Internacional de Mar del Plata, donde recibió, entre otros, los premios “Astor Piazzolla Especial del Jurado” y el “Premio del Público”.
