On a warm evening back in June The Rose held their second concert in London, UK, at the Indigo O2 as part of their 'Once upon a WRLD Tour' to a packed audience of 3000! The venue was perfect, creating an intimate feel to the concert. The Rose has been active since 2017, with four members: Kim Woosung on vocals and guitar, Park Dojong on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Lee Hajoon on drums and Lee Taegyeom on bass, playing what is often described as indie rock.
The tour coincided with the release of their new album, 'WRLD', and the concert featured many of the new songs, starting with 'Ticket to the Sky' in the first part of the concert where they treated us to a beautiful acoustic set where the voices of Woosung and Dojoon really shone. The latest album is in English however previous albums are a mix of Korean and English.
The stage opened up revealing a scene from an apartment complete with a bed, sofa and plants. The concert picked up pace with great renditions of songs from the new album, including 'Tomorrow' and two of my favourites, 'Nebula' and 'Slowly'. Despite some technical issues The Rose showed what a great live band they are, and they were also very charming and funny in their interactions with the audience.
The venue was jumping at this stage, and fan favourites like 'Back to me', 'Sour' and 'Sorry' had everyone on their feet! The concert closed with a beautiful version of 'O' from the new album, inviting us to 'come as one' regardless who we are or where we are from. This was my first experience of The Rose live and I can't wait to see them again!
