On October 25, KCC Indonesia collaborated with King Sejong Institute Jakarta and Atma Jaya Catholic University to host a semifinal and final round of the Korean Language Debate Competition for University Students. Four teams were selected to compete in the semifinal round at the Hall D of Atma Jaya Catholic University Jakarta. There were Yangwon Cross and Aha team from Gajah Mada University, Winners team from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and 700 Ujagu team from University of Indonesia.
Director KCC Indonesia Kim Yong-woon, highlighted in his opening speech that this kind of competition is good for enhancing the Korean language skills and critical thinking skills of Indonesian students.
In the first round of the semifinal, the Winners team, represented by Narisa Aulia Jasmine and Amanda Kurnia Nurshadrina won over the Yangwon Cross team, represented by Firmansyah Haryo Yudhoyono and Nasya Athallah Putri. The topic of the debate was whether college students majoring in Korean studies should be required to write graduation papers in Korean.
In the second round of the semifinal, the topic was whether the MBTI test should be used for the recruitment process. In this round, the Aha team, represented by Rohadatul Aisy Hamdaini and Tiara Islami Sugihartono, was defeated by the 700 Ujagu team, represented by Atha Rizqi Fadhilah and Hardi Nico Sitanggang.
The finalists were the 700 Ujagu team and the Winners team. Both teams had a very intense debate on whether the kangaroo tribe phenomenon occured because of the high competition rate in the job market.
After the final round, Gigi Art of Dance lit up the venue with their powerful K-pop dance cover.
The 700 Ujagu team from the University of Indonesia won the debate competition and one of their speakers, Atha Rizqi Fadhilah was also awarded the title of best speaker
