For many K-pop fans in Romania, March 2026 will be remembered as the moment a long-standing dream finally became reality. U-KWON, best known as a member of Block B, made his first-ever visit to Bucharest, bringing with him not only music, but also an energy and openness that left a lasting impression.
Organized by ANI-K MANIA and Mega Mall Bucharest, the two-day event combined a dance workshop, a showcase, and an extensive meet-and-greet session, offering fans multiple ways to connect with the artist beyond the stage.

An exclusive dance workshop: learning from the artist himself
The experience began on March 28 at Challenge Arts Studio, where a limited group of 50 fans had the rare opportunity to participate in an exclusive dance workshop led by U-KWON himself. Tickets sold out quickly, reflecting both the anticipation surrounding his visit and the strong presence of the K-pop community in Romania.
During the session, participants learned the choreography for Zero for Conduct by Block B-BASTARZ. The workshop offered something far more personal than just a technical lesson - a direct interaction with the artist, real-time guidance, and the chance to experience his performance style up close.

For many, the experience felt surreal. One participant described it as “something I never imagined I’d get to do in Romania—learning directly from an artist I’ve watched for years.” The atmosphere remained both focused and relaxed, with U-KWON encouraging participants while maintaining the high level of precision he is known for.
U-KWON’s precision, charisma, and ability to connect with participants turned the workshop into an intimate and memorable experience, blurring the line between fan and performer, even if only for a moment.

A full day of energy at Mega Mall Bucharest
The following day, March 29, the atmosphere shifted to a larger scale as fans gathered at Mega Mall Bucharest for the showcase and meet-and-greet event. Access to the showcase was free, based on prior registration, making it accessible to a wide audience eager to see the artist live.
The event opened with an engaging warm-up session hosted by Lev from ANI-K MANIA, member of Midnight Pearls, one of Romania’s most recognized K-pop cover dance crews. Through games and interactive moments, fans had the chance to win prizes such as official merch and movie tickets, and build excitement ahead of the main performance.

When U-KWON finally took the stage, the crowd’s reaction spoke for itself. He performed his solo tracks, including Rise Up and FUEGO, alongside iconic songs from Block B such as HER and Very Good. Each performance was met with loud cheers, fan chants, and an undeniable sense of collective nostalgia, especially for long-time fans who had waited years for a moment like this.
A long-time fan in attendance shared, “I’ve been listening to Block B for over 10 years, and I never thought I’d see one of the members perform here. It felt unreal from start to finish.”

A special connection: fan project and on-stage moments
One of the most touching highlights of the showcase was a fan-organized project presented directly to the artist. The video, which included fan art, heartfelt messages, and dance covers, was played on screen while U-KWON watched from the stage.
Visibly impressed, he reacted warmly, taking time to acknowledge the effort and dedication behind the project. The moment reinforced the strong bond between the artist and his Romanian audience, turning the event into something far more meaningful than a standard performance.
Between songs, U-KWON also answered questions about his first impressions of Romania, sharing his thoughts in a relaxed and genuine manner that further endeared him to the audience.

A Meet & Greet that truly meant “meeting”
The experience continued with an extensive meet-and-greet session, where fans were able to interact directly with the artist. From autographs and photos to signed merchandise such as posters, photocards, and Polaroids, the event offered a wide range of options.
Among the most memorable collectibles was the “boyfriend selfie,” where U-KWON personally took photos on fans’ phones—adding a playful and personal touch that many will not soon forget.

What stood out the most, however, was his dedication. U-KWON made sure to meet every single attendee, regardless of how long it took. Some fans waited up to three hours in line, yet each interaction remained warm, patient, and genuine.
As one fan put it, “Even after hours, he was still smiling, still present. It didn’t feel rushed at all, it felt like he really wanted to meet each of us.” His kindness and professionalism left a lasting impression, reinforcing the idea that this was more than just a fan event—it was a meaningful exchange.

A personal note
Attending the event as press and also as a long time fan offered me a unique perspective on both its scale and emotional impact. Beyond documenting the performances and interactions, it was impossible not to become part of the atmosphere itself—dancing along, capturing moments, and witnessing firsthand the connection between artist and audience.
Meeting U-KWON personally, even briefly, confirmed what many fans had already felt: his stage presence is matched by a sincere and approachable personality. A full interview is set to follow, offering further insight into his experience in Romania and his artistic journey.

U-KWON’s first visit to Romania was the result of years of quiet anticipation from a fanbase that had supported him from afar, often without knowing if a moment like this would ever come. What made this experience truly stand out was not only the performances, the choreography, or the scale of the event, but the sincerity behind every interaction. From the intimate setting of the dance workshop to the high-energy showcase and the remarkably dedicated meet-and-greet, each part of the event revealed a different side of the artist.
As Romania continues to grow as a destination for K-pop artists, events like this highlight not only the demand, but also the depth of connection within the local community. U-KWON’s visit was a step forward that opens the door to future encounters, new opportunities, and an even stronger presence of Korean artists in the region.
