The 100 Online Supporters selected to promote Korea and Korean culture in Malaysia throughout 2026 gathered for the “2026 Korean Embassy Online Supporters Orientation” held via video conference on March 25.
During the session, H.E. Yeo Seung-bae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia, welcomed both new and returning participants. He expressed his appreciation for their role in promoting Korea online, emphasizing that their efforts serve as an important bridge in strengthening mutual understanding and respect between Korea and Malaysia.

Sharing session
The orientation also featured sharing sessions by last year’s top Online Supporters. Norlydiana, who won the grand prize of a round-trip ticket to Korea, encouraged participants to stay authentic and consistent in their content creation.
“Consistency and authenticity are more powerful than perfection. Audiences connect with real stories and genuine excitement, so don’t be afraid to experiment,” she said.
She also highlighted the importance of engaging with audiences, noting that responding to comments and messages helps build stronger connections. “This is your platform—share what you genuinely like about Korea without worrying about being judged,” she added.
Another returning supporter, Nurruzana Rahim, shared her six-year journey in the program and the opportunities it has brought, while Hanim, a participant since 2023, spoke about her experience joining the 2025 Youth Camp for ASEAN and Friends’ Engagement (YCAFE), organized by Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Scoring criteria
Participants were also briefed on the program’s award scoring criteria, where points are awarded for attending offline events, creating original content, and reposting Korean-related content. Returning participants emphasized the importance of submitting monthly reports, with a suggestion to keep weekly records to make the process more manageable.
For me, being part of this program has been a fulfilling experience. As the recipient of the “Best Online Supporter for K-Food” award in 2025, I am excited to continue supporting the embassy’s efforts in promoting Korea and its culture, something I have been covering for over a decade as a journalist.
With my background as a multilingual writer and multiplatform content creator, I look forward to contributing more stories and serving as a bridge between Korean and Malaysian cultures in the year ahead.
