The following are excerpts from email and Instagram interview with Uke Gabriel Tersoo from December 29th 2025, on his experience in participating in the First Global KOREAZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs Digital Global campaign “Vibe with US” Content Creation Contest, winning the grand prize and also travelling to Korea.
1) Please, can you introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Uke Gabriel Tersoo, and I am a videographer/content creator based in Abuja, Nigeria. I love storytelling with visuals, travel moments, and anything that connects culture and real life.
2) How did you find out about the competition, and what made you interested in it?
I found out about it on KCCN’s Instagram page. What made me interested was that the theme wasn’t asking for something overly “perfect.” It was about comfort in everyday life, and I knew I could tell that kind of story in a real way.
3) What was the idea behind your winning video?
The idea was basically how Korean culture has become part of my normal life in Nigeria, and it brings me comfort in different ways: music, movement, stories, and the energy around it. So I wanted the video to feel like a simple, honest “day-in-my-life” blend of Nigeria + Korea.
4) How did winning the contest feel like?
It felt unreal at first, like I had to re-read the message. Then it turned into pure joy. I felt proud because it wasn’t just the editing; it felt like they understood the heart behind the story.
5) How did your journey with Korean culture begin, and how did it influence your video?
It started with K-pop. I met some amazing dancers, and that opened the door for me to explore more of Korean culture naturally. From there, it grew into other things: Taekwondo, K-drama, K-percussion, Hanbok, and let's not forget about the K-Food! and all of that became the inspiration for the video.
6) How were you able to integrate AI and blend Korean and your own cultures to celebrate comfort in daily life?
For AI, I used it like a helper; to organise the story, tighten my script, and improve the flow. I also generated a few AI video scenes by prompting, then blended those with my real-life footage. For the culture mix, I kept it honest: Nigeria is my daily reality, and Korean culture is what I love, so I showed both together through K-pop, Taekwondo, K-drama, K-percussion, and Hanbok.
7) What message did you want to pass across with your video?
That comfort can come from the little things - music, movement, community, stories, and culture can connect people even when they’re far apart. Basically, everyday life can be lighter when you find things that genuinely make you happy.
8) What was your experience like in Korea, especially attending the Award ceremony?
Korea was amazing; it felt like walking into places I’ve seen online for years. The award ceremony was special because it made everything feel real and official. And meeting the other winners was a highlight too; the connection was instant, and the vibes were so genuine.
9) Lastly, what places did you visit in Korea and want others to experience too?
During my trip to Korea, I visited Gyeongbokgung Palace, Insadong, Lotte Tower, COEX Mall, Namsangol Hanok Village, Myeongdong, National Museum of Korea, DDP, and Seongsu-dong. If I had to recommend: Gyeongbokgung because of its history, Myeongdong because of its energy, DDP because of its aesthetics, and lastly Seongsu, which had cool and creative vibes.
