Starting August 8th, the Blue House or Cheong Wa Dae will no longer be open to the public since it will now resume to its previous function as the Presidential Office.
I had the opportunity to visit Cheong Wa Dae back on November 13, 2023, a year after it has been open to the public since May 2022. The following is a list of remarkable experience inside Cheong Wa Dae.
A short visit to Yeongbingwan Hall's stunning fusion of Western and Korean architectural styles.
This is the nearest spot upon registration at the main gate and it makes all the visitors feel like a real VIP inside Yeongbingwan Hall because of the red carpet and combination of Korean architecture and western styles. This place is where the large conferences and official events dedicated for state guests. A crowd’s favorite and instagramable-spot in Cheong Wa Dae is a short stroll from Yeongbingwan Hall. If viewed from the correct angle on the camera, the stunning Main Building backdrop and the life-size, pink letters of Cheong Wa Dae in front of it give the impression that the visitor is on the cover of a magazine.

A closer look at the main building's prominent photo exhibition of the previous Korean presidents
One of the highlights of this building is the prominent photo exhibition of the previous Korean presidents. This building also has a reception room that previously served as a meeting room for the president and foreign guests. Few individuals were trying to take pictures at the stairs with the red carpet, but the staff members keep reminding everyone that it was forbidden to take pictures at these stairs in order to prevent any mishaps. Because of its Western vibe, this luxurious staircase going to the second level is both aesthetically pleasing and highly visible.

A once in a lifetime experience and the serene atmosphere at the Presidential residences
Since the area going to the presidential residence is higher and nearly next to the mountain, be prepared with a pair of comfortable footwear on the walk to the presidential mansion. But with fresh environment and sceneries waiting for every tourist, the view is truly breathtaking. The presidential home resembles a contemporary hanok, which gives the impression that staying there was rather soothing. Everyone is welcome to explore and have a look at every window, the side and the back area, which creates the impression that it is completely closed to nature.

The pavilions and rest places that provide protection from the heat and cold weather to every visitors
Don’t worry about comfort rooms since there are public rest rooms available within Cheong Wa Dae. In order to stay warm, especially during cold weather, guests can also spend some time in a dedicated area just beside the comfort room. Pavilions, which resemble miniature gardens in the heart of the forest, are also visually stunning since they create a more tranquil atmosphere.

An opportunity to participate in events and bring home a special souvenir from Cheong Wa Dae
Before departing Cheong Wa Dae, there is ongoing event to take a photo, write a review, and post it on the Cheong Wa Dae's website. All participants are rewarded with a small magnetic keepsake featuring a stunning image of Cheong Wa Dae.
