The Korean Cultural Centre in India held the grand opening of its new exhibition, 'The Eternal Resonance Between Indian Culture and Korean Culture,' on 27th June 2024. The event showcased the diverse works of ten talented artists from India and Korea. During the ceremony, artists from both nations, including Niren Sen Gupta, Kalicharan Gupta, Santosh Kumar Verma, Meena Deora, and Shovin Bhattacharjee from India, and Minjoo Lee, Seongkyoo Jeon, Mansoo Lee, Eunsook Lee, and Hojun Kim from Korea, proudly displayed their artwork. Each artist passionately spoke about their pieces, the idea behind their artworks and the relationship of Korea and India.
The Korean Ambassador to India, Chang Jae-bok, was also invited to attend the inauguration, making the event even more special. He began the event by lighting diyas along with other artists, an important Indian tradition for significant occasions. This gesture symbolized the friendship between the two countries and was warmly appreciated by the attendees, adding a special touch to the event.

After this ceremony, Ambassador Chang Jae-bok gave a small speech, where he appreciated all the artists from both the countries and emphasized on the strong and longstanding ties between the two countries. Artist Minjoo Lee, Kali Charan Gupta and Niren Sen Gupta also exchanged a few words with the audience and shared their views on the collaboration of both the countries and how grateful they were to be sharing the stage together.

After the speeches, All the ten artists from both countries showcased their art on a unique canvas of clothing together, integrating elements that reflect the cultural exchange between India and Korea. Korean artists incorporated Hangeul letters, Korean artistic motifs while Indian artists incorporated Hindi words and other Indian regional languages. The audience enjoyed the artworks displayed on clothing, which featured this blend of languages and artistic styles. Korean traditional music played in the background, adding to the ambiance.

Many art lovers from Delhi and those interested in Korean culture attended the event, filling the gallery with excitement. The exhibition space was buzzed with discussions about the artworks, cultural similarities, and the evolving relationship between India and Korea. Attendees were seen engaging with the artists, asking questions, and sharing their own perspectives on the displayed pieces.

In addition to the visual arts, the exhibition featured many cultural events. Attendees were treated to a Korean & Indian poem recitation, adding literary depth to the event. A Korean traditional tea ceremony and seminar, led by Hongjoo Yi, a distinguished figure in the world of traditional Korean tea culture. As a tea master, she has dedicated her life to the practice, education, and preservation of Korean tea ceremonies. Hongjoo Yi's seminar highlighted the significance of tea in both cultures and offered insights into the shared tea traditions of Korea and India.

Attending the exhibition "The Eternal Resonance Between Indian Culture and Korean Culture" at the Korean Cultural Centre India was a wonderful experience for me. I got to meet some of the artists and learn about their artworks.Talking with the artists made me realize how art can bring different countries closer together by celebrating our shared values. The event not only displayed beautiful artworks but also sparked important conversations about the strong connections between India and Korea.
