La final del Festival K-pop cover dance México 2024
¿Qué significa cover en español?
El término cover, de la lengua inglesa, puede traducirse como “cubierta” o “tapa”. En nuestro idioma, su uso aparece en el ámbito musical para referirse a una canción de un autor o intérprete que es ejecutada en una nueva versión por otro músico.
Ciudad de México, 2024. unaEl pasado domingo 16 de junio se llevó a cabo ante un público que llenó el Teatro Metropolitan de esta capital, la final del K-pop Cover Dance Festival 2024, que este año cumple ya trece años realizándose en nuestro país.
Este festival patrocinado por el Centro Cultural Coreano, el periódico “The Seoul Shinmun Daily”, el gobierno metropolitano de Seúl, el sitio web visitseoul.net, la Korean Entertainment Producer´s Association, la Federation of Korean Music Performers, Allkpop, Seoul Travel Organization, Megazone, Bear label production y Blackcover, recibió 460 coreografías en video provenientes de todo el país, quienes buscaron ser seleccionados para formar de los quince finalistas que compitieron por el primer premio que es representar a México en la final global a realizarse en Seúl, la capital de Corea a finales de este año.
El conductor del evento fue el presentador mexicano Christian Burgos quien es considerado el mexicano más famoso en Corea y es una celebridad televisiva en aquel país, él fue el encargado de presentar a los miembros del jurado y a cada uno de los grupos participantes.
Después, el embajador de Corea en México, el Sr. Huh Tae-Wan dirigió un mensaje en el que recalcó los fuertes lazos de amistad entre México y Corea y agradeció al público mexicano su apoyo al k-pop, ya que la cultura coreana tiene una gran tradición por cantar y bailar, y esa tradición ha encontrado una cálida recepción en el carácter apasionado y festivo de la cultura mexicana.
El jurado evaluó el trabajo de los participantes considerando diversos criterios; coreografía y coordinación 40%, presencia escénica 30%, aspecto técnico 30% y estuvo integrado por diversas personalidades:
El embajador de Corea en México, el Sr. Huh Tae-Wan, el director del Centro Cultural Coreano en México, el Sr. Woo Pyo-Jun, el gerente de cultura y entretenimiento de “The Seoul Shinmun Daily”, el Sr. Ho Jin-Chun, el coreógrafo Jay Kim, el Lic. Carlos Ramírez Sámano subsecretario de Educación Media Superior de la SEP y Paola Velis encargada de relaciones públicas de OCESA.
Ellos, junto a más de tres mil personas, fuimos espectadores de un espectáculo lleno de música, elaboradas coreografías, esfuerzo y horas de ensayo y dedicación.
Los grupos participantes (originarios en su mayoría de la capital mexicana) ejecutaron coreografías de diferentes canciones de grupos de k pop y fueron los siguientes:

La constante en todas estas juveniles agrupaciones era la energía y el entusiasmo; sin embargo, conquistar el escenario requiere mucho más que ganas e interés y es aquí donde algunos grupos fueron quedándose cortos en su propósito de ganar la competencia, pues a pesar de su entusiasmo, ciertos conjuntos presentaban un desnivel técnico o escénico entre sus mismos integrantes y esto afectó en sus evaluaciones.
Como número especial y antes de la deliberación del jurado se presentó el coreógrafo y bailarín Jay Kim, destacado profesional en el medio de la industria del entretenimiento de Corea y que ha trabajado con diversos artistas y compañías de aquel país. Al terminar su participación conversó con Christian Burgos en una entrevista.
Durante el desarrollo del evento, este reportero comentaba e intercambiaba opiniones con una colega sobre cuáles eran los grupos que iban perfilándose como los tres ganadores y que a la postre resultaron serlo.
El primer lugar lo obtuvo Zekkei de Jalisco, grupo mixto conformado por cuatro varones y cuatro mujeres, un conjunto que se nota lleva trabajando mucho tiempo juntos, tienen muy buen ajuste entre ellos y proyectan gran fuerza en el escenario por medio de su gran condición físico atlética, usan hábilmente la teatralidad de su coreografía que por momentos resulta efectista, pero que logra deslumbrar y arrancar la ovación del público.
El segundo lugar fue para Convictus Crew de la Ciudad de México, un grupo conformado por cinco varones y una mujer. Cabe destacar que esta es una propuesta dancística de reciente creación y es muy meritorio que en su primera competencia hayan obtenido la segunda posición, gracias a su vistosa coreografía, presencia escénica y conexión con el público que les regaló sonoras ovaciones durante su número.
Optimum Dance Cover de Querétaro obtuvo el tercer lugar, esta agrupación conformada por cuatro jovencitas logró conectar con el publico de manera muy emotiva con su coreografía y proyección escénica. Un conjunto que físicamente es muy similar a un grupo femenino de k pop, con integrantes muy ágiles y de complexiones muy similares a las llamadas “idols”. Un dato relevante sobre este grupo es que sólo veinticuatro horas antes, el sábado, estas chicas habían obtenido el segundo lugar en otra competencia de cover dance realizada en el World Trade Center de esta ciudad, durante la primera Korean Brand Expo en México, evento encargado de promover a marcas líderes, así como a pequeñas y medianas empresas de Corea.
Llevo consumiendo k-pop hace más de diez años y estos grupos ganadores con su dedicación y esfuerzo lograron emular a los grupos que interpretaron y por momentos me hicieron pensar que veía en vivo a los artistas originales.
Joaquin Sabina dice que: “bailar es soñar con los pies” y estos jóvenes ganadores han brillado en el escenario y se acercan paso a paso a cumplir con su anhelo de llegar a Seúl.
