The "Kimchi Dance Contest" attracts participants from all over Gran Canaria and is one of the most anticipated moments of the annual Korean culture festival held in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana. This event took place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Víctor Jara Theater in Vecindario. This Korean cultural event reaches its 13th edition this year, organized by the Korean Consulate and Kulture+ association in collaboration with the Santa Lucía de Tirajana City Council.
Stage outside the theater where K-POP lovers could dance (Random Play). Visitors could play visual games and buy merchandising related to K-POP.
Consul for Maritime Affairs, Kyungrae Cho, the President of the Korean Community in the Canary Islands, Choi Ki-hwan, and Consulof Korea, Koh Moon-Hee, among other officials, waiting for the event to begin. This year holds particular significance as we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Spain.
Ariadna Rodriguez said she was very happy to present this edition, uniting cultures and creating magical moments. Consul Ko Moon-hee extended sincere gratitude to the Councilor for Youth, Julio Ojeda, for their presence. This festival, conceived by Kulture+, serves as a platform to celebrate Korean culture within the Canary Islands. The Consulate has collaborated with them for over a decade, and the festival has solidified its position as a benchmark for Korean culture in the region.

Third prize for "Brii", second was "Nixe" and the first prize was won by "Mai".
Winners of the group category:
Third prize for "Only Boys", second prize was for "Hollow" and the group "Real Blood" won the first prize.

Finally, there was a big surprise for the public. Lucy Calcines, a Cuban-Spanish singer and songwriter acted on stage.
In 2020, she became a contestant and semi-finalist on The Voice UK, reaching over 31 MILLION views in her blind audition alone. Lucy was mentored by the producer and Black Eyed Peas member. She quickly became the most-watched contestant in the history of The Voice UK and the most-watched contestant on The Voice worldwide in 2020. The public went crazy with her performance.
All participants, from both categories, were chosen through an online pre-selection process before competing on stage.The jury was composed of 3 professional dancers: Silvia, who trained at the Justjerk Dance Academy in Korea. Ivy from Barcelona who works as a K-Pop teacher. Yanu, professional dancer based in Barcelona as well, specialized in contemporary dance, urban jazz, and also a K-Pop teacher.The event was a resounding success, and attendees eagerly anticipate next year’s edition.
