Since 1911, the 8th of March annually is marked as "International Women's Day (IWD)" to celebrate the achievements of women globally. The IWD campaign theme of 2024 International Women's Day is "Inspire Women" and the other theme is "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress". To inspire women, on 8th March 2024, the Korean Cultural Centre Nigeria brought together people to commemorate the important occasion with a female lead role movie screening, "Next So-Hee". Looking back from Lee Wol Hwa in 1923, the first Korean actress in history, Korea has witnessed many female lead roles and movies directed by women since then. The movie "Next So-Hee" released in Korean theatres in 2023 gave the Nigerian audience a view of the impact of Korean women, value their rights and diverse sides of their contributions to society.
After the movie screening, the audience received a rose flower and snacks to symbolize "purple and bread" a heritage of International Women's Day. There was an open discussion about concepts from the movie during which they shared some of their inspiring female lead Korean actresses and Nigerian movies of female lead roles. "I like Kim in the movie 'The Glory' because she was inspiring and never gave up. She showed resilience and portrayed the lead character of the story effectively".
