[Mission] Korea Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, showcases Korea's vision for a future society
2025-07-06Expo 2025 Osaka is one of the world's largest fairs this year. It showcases the latest innovations, technologies and diverse cultures. With over 158 countries participating, under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” this expo succeeded to attract millions of people from around the world to experience what the expo had to offer.

Among the 158 countries that participated, Korea Pavilion was one of the most visited. The architecture was designed harmoniously combining art and technology. From the outside, the building looked very modern while from the inside, the interior had a clean design look added with a traditional touch on the ceiling, using Hansanmosi (Korean traditional fabric) a natural fiber extracted from ramie grass and handmade by artisan, UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Up until today, hundreds of thousands of visitors have visited the Korean Pavilion since the expo first opened on April 13. I had an opportunity to interviewed one of the visitors from Hong Kong, Jacky Lam via messenger on June 27. “Out of 96 pavilions participated in this Expo, I have visited 66 pavilions including the Korean Pavilion” he said. Lam visited the Korea Pavilion on his 4th day visit to the Osaka Expo. He entered the pavilion around 8 p.m, queued for 15 minutes to enter the pavilion and spent almost 30 minutes to explore all the three zones.
Under the theme “With Hearts: Connecting Hearts, Lives in Bloom,” The pavilion is divided into three zones. Zone 1 theme was “Light and Sound Connecting One and All” (connecting people to people beyond the boundaries of language). In this zone, right at the entrance of the exhibition hall, visitors voices are recorded and transformed into their own light and music through Al.

Zone 2 the theme was “From Barren Cityscape to Life Renewed” (Korea's Technology Leads to Life Recovery from Ruins). In this zone, visitors could interact with Korea's green technology, they were invited to blow into the pipes connected to hydrogen engines that installed on the ceiling, then triggers falling water bubble. Zone 3 the theme was “A Melody Shared Across Time” (Connect valuable values from the present generation to the future generation through music). In this zone, visitors could enjoy watching a short musical movie through a three-sided panoramic screen using the latest cinema technology.

“My favourite part in the Korea Pavilion were zones 2 and 3, the H2O bubble making machine and the emotional short movie about a girl connecting with her grandfather across time.” said Lam.
Since the summer vacations are approaching, and many people are still expected to come. Lam shared his advice for those who plan to visit the Expo "Try to prepare as much as possible and make use of the reservation system especially the draw of 2 months, 7 days and 3 days. Stay healthy before entering, prepare physically and mentally as there may be a lot of queuing during the visit."
Expo 2025 Osaka is the best place to visit for experiencing the cultural exchanges and new innovations from around the world. For everyone who is interested to visit, the expo runs until Oct.13.
