The first round of the “Quiz on Korea 2025” competition was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2025 , at the official residence of the Ambassador of Korea in Tehran. The event welcomed a group of passionate Iranian participants eager to test their knowledge of Korea in a friendly and culturally rich environment.Organized annually by KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) in collaboration with Korean embassies worldwide, “Quiz on Korea” aims to foster global cultural awareness by promoting knowledge of Korea’s history, society, and traditions. The event began with the preliminary round of the competition, where excited participants gathered with enthusiasm and anticipation. A total of 48 contestants took part in the first round, answering questions related to the Korean language, history, and culture. From this group, six finalists were selected to perform in the final stage. The finalists showcased a variety of performances, including singing Korean songs, dancing, and giving short presentations. After the performances, the top winners were announced.

Alongside the main competition, several cultural booths were set up, offering engaging activities such as face painting, traditional Korean games, mask coloring (featuring Korean traditional masks known as tal), and crafting paper versions of hanbok and bokjumeoni (traditional clothing and lucky pouches). These hands-on experiences brought an added layer of connection to Korean culture and created a vibrant atmosphere throughout the event.

After the program, a delicious Korean lunch was served, featuring a wide variety of dishes including kimbap, tteokbokki, bulgogi, kimchi, gimmari twigim, and more. As always, Korean food was incredibly flavorful. We even found ourselves playfully wondering who first came up with the idea of making kimbap. During lunch, a lively karaoke session was held where guests could request their favorite songs. The day wrapped up with group photos and plenty of shared laughter and joy.

Experiencing this event was more than just attending a competition—it was a reminder of why I first fell in love with Korean culture. Participating in the cultural booths, tasting the food, singing along to favorite songs, and being surrounded by others who share the same enthusiasm made me feel deeply connected, once again, to something that has become a meaningful part of my life. It was a day full of curiosity, culture, and community—one I’ll remember for a long time.
