Seoul überrascht mich immer wieder. Gerade, wenn ich denke, die Stadt zu kennen, stolpere ich über Orte wie einen Wasserfall mitten in der Stadt – eine versteckte Oase, die fast noch ein Geheimtipp ist.
Mitten in der lebhaften, modernen Stadt kannst du hier dem Klang eines kleinen Wasserfalls lauschen und völlig abschalten. Als ich das erste Mal von einem Wasserfall mitten in Seoul hörte, konnte ich kaum glauben, dass ein solch idyllischer Ort in der koreanischen Metropole existieren sollte. Doch als ich an einem warmen Sonntagmorgen in schmale Gasse im Stadtteil Seodaemun-gu die zum Café Pokpo direkt am Wasserfall führt, betrat, wurde ich eines Besseren belehrt.
Die Anfahrt und Lage
Mein Startpunkt war Hongdae, eines der lebendigsten Viertel in Seoul. Normalerweise würden die meisten wohl einfach die U-Bahn nehmen, aber ich liebe es, mit dem Bus zu fahren. Es ist eine meiner Lieblingsmethoden, um die Stadt zu erkunden, denn so bekomme ich mehr von den verschiedenen Facetten Seouls mit.
Von Hongdae aus stieg ich in den grünen Bus 7612, um nach einer Station nach 4 Minuten in den blauen Bus 163 umzusteigen. Dieser brachte mich nach neun Stationen (Aussteigen: IBK Hongeun-dong Branch = 서대문구보건서별관) und gut 10 Minuten Fahrt in die Nähe meines Ziels.
Eine Oase der Ruhe
Der Kontrast hätte kaum größer sein können. Eben noch umgeben vom Großstadtlärm, stand ich nun vor dem Wasserfall, der sanft in einen Teich plätscherte, eingebettet in üppiges Grün. Ich musste zweimal hinsehen, um sicherzugehen, dass ich nicht träumte.
Das Café Pokpo hat etwas Magisches. Es liegt direkt neben einem kleinen Wasserfall. Ich setzte mich draußen auf die Terrasse, wo das Geräusch des Wassers hören konnte, und genoss meinen Iced Americano sowie mein Brötchen gefüllt roter Bohnenpaste zum Frühstück. Von hier aus hatte ich einen perfekten Blick auf das idyllische Szenario vor mir.
Die gesamte Atmosphäre war unglaublich friedlich, fast meditativ. Auf der einen Seite bist du in einer der größten und lebendigsten Städte der Welt, aber gleichzeitig fühlt es sich an, als wärst du in einem abgelegenen Naturparadies.
Kaffeegenuss mit Naturkulisse
Mein Blick wanderte immer wieder zu dem alten Mühlrad, das sich gemächlich im Wasser drehte, und zu den Fischen die friedlich im Teich ihre Runden zogen.
Was mich besonders beeindruckte, war die Atmosphäre im Café. Obwohl es gut besucht war, herrschte eine angenehme Ruhe. Die Gäste unterhielten sich in gedämpften Tönen, als wollten sie die friedliche Stimmung nicht stören. Ich beobachtete Paare, die verträumt über den Teich blickten, Studenten, die konzentriert an ihren Laptops arbeiteten, und einen älteren Herrn, der in sein Buch vertieft war. Es schien, als hätte der Wasserfall eine beruhigende Wirkung auf alle Anwesenden.
Natürlich gab es auch viele Gäste, und hier will ich mich nicht ausnehmen, die dann für ein paar Fotos den Wasserfall und die herrliche Kulisse zu Fuß erkundet hatten und in vielen verschiedenen Winkeln und Positionen Bilder und Selfies machten.
Ein Geheimtipp für Ruhesuchende
Für alle, die wie ich gelegentlich eine Pause vom hektischen Treiben Seouls brauchen, kann ich diesen Ort wärmstens empfehlen. Das Wasserfall-Café Pokpo ist wirklich ein Schatz, den noch nicht jeder kennt. Es ist einer dieser Orte, an die du immer wieder zurückkommen möchtest, sobald du sie einmal entdeckt hast. Er ist perfekt, wenn du der Hektik der Stadt entfliehen und einfach mal durchatmen willst – und das, ohne weit fahren zu müssen, denn der Weg dorthin ist einfach.
Mein Fazit
Ob ihr nun auf der Suche nach einem einzigartigen Instagram-Spot seid, in Ruhe arbeiten möchtet oder einfach nur einen guten Kaffee in außergewöhnlicher Umgebung genießen wollt – den Wasserfall und dieses Café solltet ihr auf keinen Fall verpassen!
