On July 22nd the K-pop World Festival in Chile was held, where around 16 dance covers and 6 singers competed to represent Chile in the great Final that will take place in Changwon, Korea.
At the event there were official fanbases of K-pop groups to spread information about their work to the assistants. The first Chilean fanbase dedicated to NCT and Way V was present. The NCT Chile’s stand was full of photocards, albums, banners and merch of all kind from the group. Their staff was very friendly and they were giving away photocards of the members and candies to every assistant that liked NCT (known as “NCTzen”).
Seventeen Chile was also present and their stand was full of merch such as lighsticks and albums from SVT. Part of the staff, Ana and Mora, were very friendly and they talked about the story of group, the members and their fandom. Moreover, they shared with us about their experiences of being part of a fanbase here in Chile. They were also giving group photocards to every assistant who liked Seventeen (known as “carats”).
Before the competition, there was a mix of anxiety, nervousness and excitement in the air, mostly backstage, where the participants were getting ready.
However, some of them looked like they were being happy and enjoying the moment. There was also laughter in the room while they were helping each other get ready, whether that meant their make-up, outfits, going over their choreographies' steps, etc.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Chile, Kim Hak-Jae, thanking the participants for spreading Korean culture, congratulating them for their hard work and wishing the best of luck to them.
The jury was conformed by Christell, a talented chilean singer who became very famous in Chile and Korea these past few years. In the dance category, the judge was SebaDranzer who is a dancer and teacher acknowledged by his large trajectory in K-pop, also by being Chile’s representative in K-pop World Festival 2014
The main area was full of people who wanted to watch the performances and show their support to the participants.
