La casa di tutti (A home for all) is a short film made by the Manetti brothers in 2024 to mark the first World Children's Day. The film was also presented at the Rome Film Festival.
The protagonists of the story are a Korean family, played by actors Ido Ryu (Mi Rae) in the role of the child, Kim Min Joo (Sae Ron) and Park Itae (Si Won) in the roles of the parents. The choice of Korean actors was dictated by the desire to emphasise the importance of being open to other cultures, an openness that children must learn from an early age.

The short film was shot, exceptionally, partly inside St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The story, which is very simple, tells of a Korean family's trip to Rome. While visiting some monuments, including St Peter's Basilica, Mi Rae is struck by a priest's words: “Knock and it shall be opened unto you”. This message embodies the values of hope, inclusion, solidarity and hospitality, which are important to convey to children, who represent the future.

La casa di tutti (A home for all) is not just a family story, but becomes a metaphor for contemporary society, where hospitality, dialogue between different cultures and helping those in need are essential for facing the future.
The short film, lasting about 13-14 minutes, was created to celebrate World Children's Day, but is also suitable for schools thanks to its educational value and the message of solidarity it conveys. The short film lends itself to being used as a teaching tool, capable of stimulating children to reflect deeply on mutual respect and diversity.
The short film was made by the Manetti bros., two Italian brothers known for producing genre films (horror, noir, thriller, musical) and for their ability to combine different points of view. Manetti Bros. with this project demonstrate their versatility, moving from the most popular genres to a work with strong social and cultural value, without sacrificing the visual and narrative quality that sets them apart. Their film style seeks to maintain a balance between narrative, images and message, representing it in a clear and immediate way.

The choice to set some scenes in St. Peter's Basilica gives the film a spiritual and universal dimension, making the message of openness and solidarity even more powerful.
I was not known with this film, but it was a wonderful discovery. I was deeply impressed by the smooth narration, the high-quality filming and the acting of the Korean actors. I hope that many people will see it and understand its profound educational and welcoming message as a universal value. I was also very pleased with the collaboration between Italian cinema and Korean actors, which I think was very successful and underlines the value of collaboration in the arts to express important values.
La casa di tutti invites viewers to reflect on how important it is to open not only the doors of our homes but also our hearts in order to build a more inclusive global community together.
