King Sejong Institute - The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Hanoi, Vietnam, on the afternoon of Jan. 19 hosted an event for traditional Korean games experience to promote cultural exchange and introduce the local community to the vibrant heritage of Korea.
Attended by King Sejong Institute students, the event offered an opportunity to gain new insights into Korean culture, strengthen relationships, and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year together.

Teacher Yoon Ok Sun and Na Dong sook from King Sejong Institute said at the opening: "We hope the 'Traditional Korean Games Experience Day' will help you learn more about Seollal and gain a deeper understanding of Korean culture and traditions."

The event featured 6 traditional Korean games such as Yutnori (윷놀이), Ddakji (딱지), Tuho (투호), Gonggi (공기놀이), Jegichagi (제기차기) and Dalgona candy. Each game carries its own unique significance, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle and cultural values of the Korean people.
Over the course of the two-hour event, students displayed remarkable enthusiasm, energy, and spirit through each activity. The experience was further enhanced by the dedicated support of instructors, making the traditional Korean games more engaging and enjoyable than ever.

During the Experience Korean Games Day, Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi from Sejong 2 Beginner 1B, accompanied by her relative Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, shared her enthusiasm in an interview with Korea.net’s honorary reporter. "Participating in this program allows us to experience Korean culture through traditional games, deepen our understanding of its rich heritage, and improve our Korean communication skills by engaging with native teachers," she said.

Meanwhile, Mai Tri Cong, a student from Sejong 2 Beginner 1B, shared his thoughts: "As I participated in the traditional Korean games across different event zones, I was surprised to find similarities with some Vietnamese folk games. These resemblances reflect a unique closeness and connection in the cultural and spiritual lives of both Vietnam and Korea."

As an honorary reporter for Korea.net, I was thrilled to fully participate in the traditional Korean games at the event. These games reminded me of my childhood, when I would join my family and loved ones in traditional Vietnamese folk games. It was a nostalgic experience, reconnecting me to a beautiful memory where joy was shared through simple yet meaningful games.
