for this year's contest was "Hangeul in Our Daily Life."

Through an email interview, I had the opportunity to learn more about one of the winning entries. Chiquinquirá del Valle Natera Moya hails, a winner of the 2024 Hangeul Video Contest, graciously shared insights into her winning work on December 31st via email.
Congratulations on winning the 2024 Hangul Photography contest! Could you please share a brief introduction about yourself .
I am Chiquinquirá del Valle Natera Moya, originally from the beautiful Margarita Island in Venezuela. With a background in Modern Languages, I've always been passionate about communication and creative expression. This passion has led me to pursue a diverse range of roles, including writer, content creator, and honorary reporter. I am incredibly proud to have been awarded the K-Influencer Academy award in 2024, a recognition of my dedication to creating impactful digital content and fostering cultural influence. My creative spirit finds immense joy and inspiration in the worlds of literature and the arts.
what inspired you to participate in this contest?In which category did you participate, why?
I recently participated in the Hangeul contest in the video category because I have a deep passion for production. I was excited about the opportunity to showcase my creativity and skills through video. I had a clear idea in my mind about the concept I wanted to convey, which made the whole process even more enjoyable. I focused on capturing the essence of Hangeul and its significance, while also incorporating engaging visuals and storytelling elements. It was a fulfilling experience that allowed me to express my love for both the language and the art of video production!
How did you use your photograph/ video to tell a story about Hangul and its connection to this year's theme?
My video production for the Hangeul contest is deeply inspired by the Korean alphabet itself. I wanted to explore the beauty and uniqueness of Hangeul, so I created a character using some of its letters. This character symbolizes the essence of the Korean language and culture. In my video, we follow this character as he travels around the world, showcasing how Hangeul and Korean culture have transcended borders and reached global audiences. This journey represents the globalization of the Korean language, particularly through the phenomenon of Hallyu, or the Korean Wave.
As he explores different countries, he interacts with diverse cultures. My aim is to demonstrate that Hangeul is not just a writing system but a bridge that connects people across the globe through shared interests and cultural exchanges. This project celebrates the richness of the Korean language and its growing presence in the world, emphasizing how it continues to inspire and unite individuals from all walks of life.
What were the challenges you faced while taking this photo?
In reflecting on my recent project, I found that I didn't encounter many challenges along the way. This was largely because my idea felt like a source of inspiration for me, which made the entire process enjoyable. The only real challenge I faced was during the editing phase. While it required careful attention and some problem-solving, I embraced that part of the journey. I found great satisfaction in refining the footage and bringing my vision to life. Overall, the experience was more about creativity and enthusiasm than overcoming obstacles, and I truly enjoyed every moment of making that video.
How does it feel to win the Hangul photography contest?
I am incredibly proud to have received an honorable mention in the Hangeul contest, especially since this was my first time participating. This achievement holds a special significance for me, not only as a personal milestone but also as a contribution to the global promotion of Hangeul.
I believe that by sharing the beauty and uniqueness of the Korean language, we can foster greater understanding and cooperation between Korea and other countries. This victory is not just about recognition; it symbolizes a step towards bridging cultural gaps and encouraging appreciation for Hangeul on an international scale. On a personal level, the satisfaction I feel from this accomplishment is immense, as it reflects my dedication and passion for the language.
I hope that my participation can inspire others to engage with Hangeul and appreciate the richness of Korean culture. Overall, this experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to continuing my journey with Hangeul and promoting it worldwide.
