On Dec. 21, Korean Dost celebrated their 5th anniversary with a lively meet-up in Delhi. Korean Dost is a YouTube channel featuring two South Korean friends, Min and Hoon. Started in Aug 2019, they primarily focus on sharing their love for Indian culture. In 2023, a new member Josh joined them and they create videos reacting to Indian movies, music, food, and other aspects of Indian culture. The event was organized by Purple Kart at Kori’s, brought together old and new fans and those curious about Korean culture for an evening of fun, games and friendship.
I got the opportunity to attend their Delhi meet-up and it kicked off with an energetic opening performance by Korean Dost on Balloons by TVXQ!. It was followed by a dance on Indian song Kala Chashma. Later, gifts were distributed during a Q&A session with the audience. The audience enthusiastically participated, showcasing their passion for K-pop by dancing and singing to some K-pop hits.
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the interactive performances by Korean Dost. They showcased their skills through captivating dance covers of popular K-Pop songs. The performance that caught my eyes was by Josh as he performed Bus Stop (정류장) originally by Busker Busker (버스커 버스커) from the survival show Superstar K3. The attendee's cheers electrified the atmosphere.
Korean Dost themselves actively engaged with the attendees, clicked pictures with everyone, creating a heartwarming and memorable moment. The organizers prepared a cake to commemorate their anniversary as well as to celebrate Min’s birthday. The fanmeet concluded with a heartfelt closing performance on Into the New World by Girls Generation, leaving the attendees with a sense of joy and satisfaction.
Many expressed their overwhelming joy and gratitude. Here is an excerpt from the statement of an attendee and organizers to know their overall experience:
Ms. Shruti
(Attendee)
Five years ago, at my first KD fanmeet, I was a nervous newbie, captivated by Min and Hoon's genuine love for India. Back then, my passion for Korean culture was met with criticism, but their connection with India and their appreciation for our culture gave me the courage to persevere.
Fast forward to today, attending the Delhi fanmeet felt surreal. Witnessing their continued respect and interest in India was incredibly validating. It confirmed that my journey of learning about Korean culture wasn't just a 'waste of time,' but a bridge connecting our two worlds. Leaving the fanmeet, I felt deeply grateful and energized, knowing that Min, Hoon, and the entire Korean Dost team are playing a crucial role in strengthening this bond.

Organizing the Korean Dost Fanmeet in Delhi was truly a dream come true for me and the Purple Kart team. Being our first fanmeet event, we wanted to ensure everything was perfect, with a strong focus on the safety and comfort of both the artists and the fans. The Korean Dost team was incredibly welcoming and made us feel so comfortable throughout the process—they truly live up to their name as the 'Dost' of India.
We are also grateful to our venue partners, Kori’s Korean Dining, and our gifting partners, Koja India, for their invaluable support during the event. It was incredibly rewarding to hear the artists praise the arrangements and to receive so many heartfelt messages from fans sharing how well-managed and enjoyable they found the event. Their feedback meant the world to us and made me feel immensely proud of my team’s hard work and dedication.
Moments like these remind us why we’re passionate about what we do, and we’re excited to bring even more unique and memorable events to the audience in the future. I am incredibly grateful to the Korean Dost team for giving us this amazing opportunity!

Organizing the Korean Dost Meetup with PurpleKart was incredibly rewarding. I was thrilled to connect with Hoon, Min, and Josh, and learn about their impactful work. This experience reaffirmed the power of community and the joy of fostering connections through shared interests.
The 5th Anniversary meet-up was definitely a day to remember. Being a fan of KD since 2020, I felt so amazed to be around them and meet them again. Winning the gift from Korean Dost themselves wasn't something I expected. It was truly a humbling experience to meet them and witness their kindness, warmth, enthusiasm and love firsthand. Everyone who attended the fanmeet went back with a smile on their face. The event was well-planned and executed flawlessly. It was truly an unforgettable event.
