Kimbap is a prominent part of Korean Food culture. Kimbap is a food that can be found and seen even in Korean dramas. Kimbap is a bearable meal enjoyed by diners or at a convenience store. This simple dish named Kimbap is a beautiful dish made with rice rolled in green seaweed containing vegetables, and meat items or eggs as filling inside. The name of the dish was based on the main ingredients. In the Korean language, Kim (김) means seaweed, and Bap (밥) means cooked rice. Therefore, the dish which consists of cooked rice wrapped in seaweed leaves called Kimbap well knowingly.

Although some people mistake this as a type of sushi, Kimbap differs from Sushi by developing its own unique nutritional value. Because it is easy to make Kimbap is often eaten with Kimchi for picnics, for lunch boxes, or as a quick snack. Kimbap is a food that can be found on the menu of every Korean restaurant around the world as a mandatory item.
As the rice is seasoned with sesame oil, Kim Bap also incorporates some sweetness. Kimbap fillings range from grilled beef and tuna to kimchi and cheese and for non-meat eaters it can also be prepared or purchased with just vegetables as a vegetarian option. Kimbap is usually enjoyed with pickled vegetables.
Kimbap does not always just exist on the roll version. It can be eaten in various forms. Samgapkimbap is a popular type of Kimbap that comes in the shape of a triangle. You can easily eat it and carry it anywhere. Chung-mu Kimbap is simple but yet spicy a little, this comes as a Kimbap roll which is wrapped in seaweed in bite-sized shapes. Tales says that this version of Kimbap was created by fishermen’s wives back in the day.
There are many varieties of Kimbap. You can find more than a dozen types of Kimbap on everyday store menus, and if you’re traveling around Korea, you can also enjoy regionally unique Kimbap as well.
Traditional Kimbap is a dish filled with carrots, spinach, and radishes which is a dish that can often be found at lunch. Vegetable Kimbap is a vegetarian wrap packed with fresh cucumber, radish, and perilla leaves.
Tuna Kimbap is the type of Kimbap with mayonnaise and tuna inside and is one of the most popular requests. Personally, this is my favorite type of Kimbap as well. Beef Kimbap is often enhanced with sauces to get a unique flavor. If you are a beef lover this is a must-try type of Kimbap. Cheese Kimbap and Nalchial Kimbap with wrapped fish offered some special flavored types.
Egg Kimbap is made and wrapped or filled with eggs as a protein-rich snack, while Nude Kimbap is made with rice on the outside. Anchovy Kimbap adds a salty kick to someone's taste buds when trying. Kimchi Kimbap is a delicious combination of two Korean staples for a tangy, spicy roll. Pork cutlet Kimbap is deliciously made with crispy port cutlet, it has a mouth-watering taste. Short rib patty Kimbap is a type of Kimbap made with Korean short rib slices. Mayak Kimbap is a mini-roll served with special wasabi dipping sauce.
A Table with Kimbap naturally becomes a table full of flavors and textures. Also known as Korean-style rice rolls, these are made by spreading white rice on a sheet of seaweed, layering it with the desired filling, and rolling it up. Reportedly, the Kimbap Rolls originated in its rolled shape in the 1960s and 70s. By the mid-1960s, Kimbap had become a popular everyday food in Korean society.
In Korea, you can find Kimbap everywhere. Korean Kimbap is a budget-friendly great quick meal, but it can be so versatile. Therefore, if you get a chance to try different types of Kimbap do not pass it up.
