It is true that in order to fully experience the culture of a country, the best option is to spend a vacation there or, if possible, a season. Fortunately, there are many other ways to get closer to a different culture without crossing oceans. Globalization and the migration of millions of people have made this possible. In Mexico City, for example, we can find Koreatown, where many Koreans have put down roots, thus being able to find everything from typical food to the celebration of traditional festivities. However, there are also cases in which a culture is deliberately brought from outside. One of the most notable examples is the Global Village in Dubai, a theme park built in 1996 where you can find 27 pavilions that bring us closer to the culture of about 80 different countries.

Among these pavilions, the Korean one could not be missing, which, according to the Global Village web portal, is one of the most popular. As shown in the video below, you can find traditional crafts made with materials such as mother of pearl, beauty products, and items for K-pop fans. Likewise, current and traditional fashion are brought together in one place, and it is possible to find everything from a wide variety of hanboks to garments characteristic of the current clothing style. In addition, you can also experience the culture in a more active way, learning Korean calligraphy or trying different typical dishes.
The fixed stands are not the only attraction, since different shows are frequently held, among which K-pop shows stand out, like the one shown in the video below. In it we can see the show “K-pop Krazy”, the world's first K-pop musical, which in fact made its first international appearance at the Global Village in 2020. According to Gulf News, one of the newspapers in English from the United Arab Emirates, the demand for K-pop has been on the rise in the region, so they sought to incorporate an act into the entertainment program. This musical tells the story of a group of young people who seek to become the most popular K-Pop group in the world.
K-pop shows are not the only ones with a presence in the Korean pavilion, since traditional music and dance presentations are also held. As an example, we have the Samgomu show, a traditional Korean dance accompanied by various rhythms played with drums. This presentation is usually recurring, but Korean shows are not limited to the aforementioned shows, since the programming varies each season.

The popularity of the Korean pavilion at the Global Village in Dubai demonstrates how the Korean presence is significant in a large number of places in the world, so getting closer to its culture and understanding it better is becoming easier no matter where you are.
